Emil and Rosalia Muench's Photograph Collections: Muench Homestead ~ Page 2

You'll find page 1 in the archives. Some of the photographs shown below were in Ottillie "Tillie" Leeson's estate, and others were copied from collections shared by her siblings and nieces and nephews who lived in Canada.

These pictures about Emil and Rosalia's homestead on the prairies mostly show only part of the land and what remains of the buildings and shelterbelt. Their son, Reinhold Muench's book, "The Love That Endured" shows their life in intimate detail. [ISBN 0-9681701-5-3, published in 1999 by Jacquie Bicknell, JCPS Publications, Oliver, BC VOH ITO]

The Muench and Herr Connection

When Arthur Frank Vanek and Mona Inez Leeson wed on August 31, 1949 they linked the following family trees, [Maternal ~ Muench and Leeson] [Paternal ~ Vanek and Gremaux].

During the 1970's I began creating a family ancestry photo album. My intent was to feature each succeeding generation of the four families above.

Later on, I discovered after a couple of computer upgrades the programs I used to create the pages did not work in the newer computers.

Because the task of retyping all that I'd written would be enormous, I've decided to scan each page, save it as a picture, and post them here. I hope that in addition to seeing the portraits and photographs viewers will be able to enlarge the pages on their screen and read the stories. I'm starting with the eldest members and will subsequently add each generation that follows.

Corrections for the above photograph:
(L-R - men)  August, Emil & William Muench
(L-R - women) Unknown, Rosalia (nee Herr) Muench, two women women and four children unknown
This photograph may be Emil and Rosalia's wedding party. They were wed May 19, 1902 in Kolonie Parembe in a Baptist church in Zdunskawolla, Poland. Emil had a sister, Juliana, who emmigrated to Canada, where she married.

The seating arrangement suggests the women may be August's wife and children, Rosalie, and either William's wife, or the men's sister, Juliana Muench, who married Henry Kuhn. Juliana 'Julia' emigrated to Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada. Who the woman and child on the right are is unknown.

August has two daughters, Agnes and Elsie. William's children are Rudolph, Tina and Rita.

Because the Muench children's mother, Henrieatta (nee Zichlke) died when Emil was five years old, he was raised by foster parents. After receiving family ancestry information from Julianne Kuhn's grandson, Frederick on February 27, 2016, it's pure conjecture on myy part that possibly Juliana 'Julia' Muench also was raised by a foster family, which could have been Frederick's grandmother, Julianne, who emmigrated to Canada in 1888 at age six. On July 4, 1903. when she was about 23 years old, Julianne married William Frederick Kuhn. If they became foster parents to Juliana 'Julia' Muench, the child's name might have been changed to Juliana Kuhn, before she married Henry Kuhn, son of Julianne and W.F. Kuhn
